Watching English Movies as a Child Had Increased My Ability and Interest to Speak the English Language.

It was more than a decade ago, my primary years. The local TV stations were not available in my hometown, however;  we were fortunate to have access to Beta players and later the VHS. Most tapes were Hollywood movies bought from abroad, directly sent by relatives.

As a child, curiosity was high where imagination filled up the days.
Recalling back, after watching "The Sound of Music", I started singing most of the songs. In some moments of monologues or at playtime, I tried to mimic one of the characters,Brigitta. In fact, memorizing some of her lines.

Later did I realize that I had been acquiring a second language as more movies had been played. The songs and rhymes had given the comfort of learning the language with fun.My tongue got twisted by simply mimicking how the characters spoke. Being unaware of IPA yet proper pronunciation was being developed. My vocabulary had increased as series of  movies were played. In turn, English subject in school became a lot easier.

The influence was greater, much natural and fun! Based on experience,Watching English Movies at home helps a lot in the acquisition of the English language as either a second or foreign language.
